Memorializing Your Pet
I can remember even as a small boy my family has always had pets. We had dogs, rabbits – and even a white mouse that I brought home from elementary school at the end of the school year. I still can’t believe my mother allowed me to bring that little mouse home! When our pets passed away, Dad would grab a shovel from the shed and dig a hole and bury poor old Fido in the backyard. No ceremony or grave marker – just freshly turned earth until the grass covered the spot. I always thought there should be a better way.
In 2007 I started a company called Engraved Expressions, LLC. We create memorial products for both pets and humans, but for this article, we’ll focus on the pet memorials., such as, pet headstones and pet cremation urns. Being a pet lover and currently a pack leader of a dog named Trixie and a cat named Shadow (do cats really have pack leaders?), I saw the need to help families who were experiencing the loss of a pet.
Pets become an important part of our lives and are truly loved as members of our family. Most of us are very emotionally attached to our “best friends” and when our pets pass away it can be a difficult time. People struggle with the question of what to do when they lose their family pet. Is there someone you can call to take care of the arrangements? Should I cremate my pet? Should I bury my pet? Will my veterinarian take care of the arrangements? These are all very good questions and each family will decide what method works best for their situation.
Because one of the goals of our company is to help pet owners in their time of need, we are developing our website with useful pet information to help answer some of these questions. We are also partnering with pet related businesses throughout the region with the focus of providing pet memorial products including pet headstones and cremation urns. A pet memorial item can be a small granite headstone, a cremation urn, engraved memorial plaque, photo frames or a photo album. If you prefer a softer approach you can look for a pet memorial blanket or even a pillow-urn. Each of these items is designed to honor your family pet in a unique and special way.
Our company strives to offer unique, personalized pet memorial items using only the finest quality products at affordable prices. We handcraft our own line of wooden cremation urns in our Spartanburg shop and proudly display the Made In USA logo on each urn. Our urns are crafted from solid American hardwoods and feature a variety of engraved face plaques. Our granite headstones and marble memorial plaques are made with our state-of-the-art laser engraving equipment. The high-definition laser equipment allows us to engrave an image of your pet directly onto the stone, thus creating a permanent item for your beloved pet. Our photo frames and photo albums can also be processed to create a unique memorial item.
However you decide to memorialize your beloved pet, we hope your choice will be made a little easier knowing there are people who understand and can offer sympathy and support during a difficult time.
