car seat installation help?
I have a Fisher Price Voyager Deluxe Convertible car seat and I am trying to make it so that it is tight ans does not slide everywhere. It just won’t tighten even when I lock the seat belt. The seat belt itself is tight, but the seat still slides a lot, more than it should, I am talking like 5 inches. I am putting it rear facing. I am going to the fire station tomorrow to get help, but I really wanted to know if you guys had some advice on how to get it snug and tight, and not sliding around?
Anyone?

It stinks you’re having trouble, but sometimes seats can be hard to put in until you figure out what works best in your car, and then you should be able to do it faster.
Are you absolutely positive your seatbelts do lock? If you car is newer than ‘97, it should. Pull the shoulder portion all the way out slowly, then feed it back in. Do you hear a clicking sound? (This is, of course, assuming you’re installing with a lap/shoulder belt, if not, look below b/c the instructions are a little different.) If it ‘ratchets’ as it goes back in, and you can no long pull it out anymore, the seat belt is doing its job.
Now for actually putting the seat in!
The other tips you’ve gotten,mostly, are right on. Except that whole remove the base thing….don’t try that. 
1)Make sure you’re routing it through the correct belt path, b/c there will be one for rear facing (towards the front of the seat, where child’s legs are) and 1 for front facing
2)Put the seat in, route the belt, and buckle it. Now, put your knee in it (yes, I know, a little difficult in a rear facing seat!) and push and it shouldn’t take 2 people.
3)At the side of the seat where you’ve buckled the belt, pull up on the shoulder portion of the belt, and pull as much as you can to tighten the lap portion. Pull as much as you possible can and feed it slowly back into the retractor (where it came from)
4)Take your knee out, and grasp the seat at that belt path – if it moves less than 1″, you’re done. If not… Keep going
5)Put your knee back in the seat. Unbuckle the belt (don’t take it out of the belt path, just unbuckle it) and feed just a little big more of it back into the retractor. Not Too much! If you put too much back you’ll have to start over. 2 clicks tighter is a good rule of thumb.
6)keep your knee in the seat, and if possible, use the roof of the vehicle to push on with your back so you get more leverage/pressure, push in the seat and rebuckle it. It will be hard, but doable.
7)Take your knee out, grasp the belt path and test again. If still not less then 1″…..Keep going.
8)Do the seats in your car recline any more? I mean, can a person make it go back and up? If so, get back up there with your knee in the seat, recline the seat a little bit, and redo step 5.
9)redo step 6
10)It will take some strength, but pull the vehicle seat back up to its original position.
11)test at belt path again.
KEep repeating these steps until there’s less than 1″ of movement. Make sure the buckle doesn’t isn’t touching the opening of the belt path, it could come unbuckled upon pressure. Reclining the seat is a great tip to make installation easier – they can be made tight and then the seat pulled back up. Also, if all these don’t work, you can twist the buckle stalk up to 3 times and see if that helps, as well.
One note: when you go to the firestation (or call) make sure the person helping you is a CPST, otherwise they won’t know any more to be helpful!
